Frequently asked questions

We understand that stepping into or thriving in a nurse leadership role comes with many questions and challenges. Below are answers to the most common inquiries about Nurse Manager University and how our programs empower nurse managers for success.

Your questions answered

Nurse Manager University is dedicated to providing comprehensive education for new and experienced nurse managers. Our approach is rooted in practical application and real-world scenarios, ensuring that every participant gains the knowledge and confidence to excel in their leadership journey.

What are the most common questions you hear from nurses interested in or already in management roles?

Overseeing 50 or more clinical professionals, working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with a constant flow of patients and diminishing resources is extremely challenging. Participating in the Nurse Manager University will help you become a better leader in this environment by equipping you with essential skills and strategies for effective management.

What benefits or solutions does your program offer that nurses often ask about?

Twenty-five years of clinical leadership experience has provided the understanding of what is needed to be a successful Nurse Manager. Our program improves your understanding of key leadership topics such as: Building my financial acumen, emotional intelligence, active listening, how to run a professional staff meeting, trust in leadership, conflict management, and leading change. These are some of the most important topics a Nurse Manager must begin to master to be an effective leader. For the Chief Nursing Officer, retention is key. Nurse Manager turnover is not only an expense issue, it is highly disruptive for the staff and has a detrimental impact on quality/safety, patient and family experience, and the overall cost of delivering care.

What hesitations or concerns do potential students have about joining your program or becoming a nurse manager, and how do you address them?

Our program is directed towards Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs). As the leader of the Nursing Department and all of the Nurse Managers, they need to be on board with bringing this program to their organization and their Nurse Managers. The program is designed to be on-site, is very flexible to the schedules of these busy leaders, and we provide between-class virtual meetings to discuss presented information and, most importantly, to review real-world application of the material.
